Tribute to David Seal, 1956 - 2021
I worked in the commercial / licensing side of Arm, so didn’t engage with David. All though occasionally I did ask his input on architectural document, useful as David often worked late and we shared the same office floor.
My lasting memory is David joining a Wine tasting event I had organised, and David joined I’m sure out of interest. I concluded David enjoyed it as he duly purchased a number of Wines we had sampled and was pleased to have gift for friends and family. He mentioned this event to me later when engaging with him as he enjoyed it and so did his family and friends who sampled his selection. David often asked me if I was going to organise such an event, sadly I didn’t, sorry David.
David was a gentlemen, willing to help answer simple technical question from commercial people. The foundation of what an Arm core is (the Architecture) has some origin from David and he leaves this legacy all around us in our Phones, Computers, Radio’s, Cameras etc…
I’ll raise a glass of good wine to David.
